2005 Toyota Tacoma Xrunner

Cabin Filter Instructions

You can easily make your own cabin filter for your Tacoma. It will be as good as the factory filter you purchase from the dealer. The filter below is available at Wal-Mart. The filter is a bit pricey at $9.88 but you can make six cabin filters out of it. It has a green layer that catches the large allergens (and leaves) and a black layer that catches microscopic allergens. See packaging below.

The filter is 20 x 25 x 1 and you should be able to make six filters and grids out of it. See below.

The grids are exactly 1 inch center to center. Trim the grid using 8 grids to give you slightly over 8 inches for the width and a snug fit. The depth is 8.5 inches, so trim and use 8 and 1/2 grids. It should be 8 x 8.5 inches when finished. See the finished product below.

The grid should be on the bottom as the air flows downward toward the fan. See below.

Here is one last picture before I snapped the door shut. Notice the snug fit. Filter cost will be about $1.50 each. I have not seen the toyota filter but I can't see why this filter would not be just as good.
